Episode 57 - Pelvic Floor and Stress Connection

In this week’s episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about the connection between the pelvic floor and stress. I did a couple of podcasts separately for these two topics, but now I decided to combine them in one podcast since I see both issues show up a ton with patients.

I also talked about the importance of proper breathing to help with the effects of having a shortened pelvic floor because of stress.

In this episode we discuss:

[00:37] Introduction to the topic

[2:14] What happens to the pelvic floor when we are stressed

[5:28] Shortening of the pelvic floor doesn’t always show up as incontinence

[8:02] Long-term effects if you have incontinence or leakage

[10:27] Breathing to get the elongated musculature of your pelvic floor

[16:22] Conclusion

If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. I’d be happy to do another podcast about your questions. Also, if you want me to talk about something specific, let me know!

Thank you for listening and see you next week!
